Ferric Grimswald

Ferric was born in central Arvendor in the bustling city of Eliturittain (ee-LIE-tuh-rah-TAIN): however, he was not raised by a family, per se. Ferric had been abandoned as a child at an orphanage, and thus grew up getting to know multiple children that were brought in, and admittedly did not get to make any lasting friendships. Due to his quiet nature as a child and into his juvenile years, Ferric had not really been the ideal choice for any couples that came in wanting to adopt and expand upon their family.

When Ferric had gotten too old to stay at the orphanage in Eliturittain, he had fortunately made enough money doing some jobs around the town -- like helping elders do their shopping, or assisting to do some clean ups at others' houses, and things of the like. With a nest egg in hand, Ferric had been on his way with some travel clothes that he had prepared long before he had even been presented with the painful truth that the elders at the orphanage could no longer care for him because he was no longer considered a child in their society.

Fortunately enough, it did not take long for Ferric to find a job as an assistant florist for one of the ladies that he had often helped for, admittedly, a small sum of money per week. Strange as it seemed, Ferric had actually enjoyed botany, mycology, herbology/herbalism, and learning how to take care of various flowers and plants when he had time to himself. The lady herself was nice, though Ferric had enjoyed learning of the medicinal and poisonous properties of the plants that he took care of, and once he had been able to afford and pay for a small flat, any time he got to himself, he then spent dabbling in alchemy and crafting various medicines, potions, and salves.

Working at the floral shoppe did not generate revenue, however, to keep a roof over Ferric's head, nor did it pay enough to have him have three square meals a day. If anything, Ferric had adopted buying lasting trail mixes and dehydrated fruit to keep him as he then looked for another job. Ferric's second job had been at a potions shop after having showed the elder man that owned the place what he knew, and what he could contribute. The elder man saw some potential, thus had that influence his decision to take on Ferric as a clerk and janitor on select days. With the jobs of being a potions clerk and a florist, it provided a very stable connection between both individuals that owned their shops, and they often paid Ferric more for each shipments taken to and from one another to help each others' businesses flourish.

A couple decades down the line, and learning multiple things in his life, it was when an adult human -- easily in her early twenties -- had first made her way into the florist's shop that, unbeknownst to Ferric at the time, would have turned his life into something more. When this young woman had made her appearance into the shop several more times on a regular occasion, Ferric had started speaking with her more and getting to know her a little better. It seemed odd to him, especially since Humans were not exactly common in Arvendor -- land of the Elves. What was even more intriguing was the fact that this woman also seemed much more versed in the study of alchemy, which was extremely surprising to Ferric when he spoke with her about her interests.

Eventually, Ferric learned that this woman's name was Tallulah Harris, and after that he learned that she was not exactly all she presented herself to be. However, the latter was discovered under Ferric's observation as he noticed that there were several things that seemed amiss with the young miss. Mostly in her watchful habits -- though her glances were subtle, and her motions were quickly masked as something else entirely, Ferric could not help but to open his mouth and ask why Tallulah seemed as troubled as she did. It was when he triggered a surprised response that she had attempted to break communication. Attempted.

Ferric had offered her cover and a place to stay for the time being, especially since he truly was not sure as to why she seemed so intent on keeping a watchful eye on her surroundings. Tallulah declined at first, though after another couple of weeks, she had taken Ferric up on his offer and stayed at his flat for the time being. The time spent together had been... not eventful, truth have been told. Both Ferric and Tallulah had their own lives to tend to, though whenever it was lunch, or whenever they could spend dinner with one another, both Ferric and Tallulah had exchanged stories that the could remember, and had even enjoyed one another's company as the night rode on.

Eventually, the truth had been revealed, and Tallulah had been confronted by someone who had been part of one of the more prominent faces of Ryne's own Dawnstar Tech. Before Ferric even had a chance to step in and say anything, Tallulah had made her manoeuvres quick, and had the man that had confronted them on the ground, arm broken, and a broken phial lodged in his skin. It did not take long for Ferric to realise that Tallulah had murdered the man before them and he was at a loss of words as what to even say.

Tallulah then told Ferric that she was sorry he was brought into this, and that civilians were usually never concerned. There was a moment's hesitation, though Tallulah eventually offered Ferric a position with the organisation that she had been part of for a good majority of her life, the Black Crowns. At the mention of the name, Ferric had been taken aback. He had heard of the Black Crowns in news clippings and as rumours on the street, though he had never really given consideration to the fact that he would one day meet face-to-face with any of them. It took some time on his part, though he eventually accepted Tallulah's offer, soon learning that she had actually been rather seasoned in the craft of being their version of thief -- a Shadowed.

Ferric was reluctant to join, though he admittedly had been smitten with Tallulah, which greatly swayed him in favour of leaving behind his life in Eliturittain and going with Tallulah back to the continent of Eve, the land of the Humans. Arriving in Eve was a bit of a culture shock to Ferric, as he had always been used to seeing Elves and the varying races of -- though meeting Human towns and customs for the first time was exciting and terrifying at the same time. Especially since Elven and Human traditions sometimes just did not mesh well. Fortunately enough, however, the relations between both Humans and Elves had been peaceful, unlike relations with the Orcs or the Eldesian.

Once Ferric arrived in Westgate and introduced to one of the 'outsider's entrance exams' as presented from the Eve Crown Triad, he had many second thoughts on returning to Arvendor to live a less exciting life. The truth that many orphans or those that suffered through corrupt governments were what made up the Black Crowns was the driving force that made Ferric forget his reservations and take on the task set before him. His life as an alchemist and florist certainly did not help him in the physical exam at first, though his intellect and knowledge shone through, as did his inherent ability in directing and using magic to his advantage -- and that was very much to his own surprise.

Accepted into the Black Crowns, Ferric had been put through training and other tests that made sure that he was an ideal member of the Black Crowns for the forces that were to go out and take on certain missions and assignments. Tallulah had taken him on as her charge, and she had taught Ferric a lot of things that involved picking locks, sleight of hand tricks, and even using his mana to help him fade with the shadows or the nighttime. It had been fortunate that Ferric learned a lot of this relatively quick, and had been successful on the trips where he was put to the test on how well he did those missions and assignments.

A decade later, Ferric had found himself at the ideal position for being next in line for becoming one of the Crown Triad of Eve under Tallulah's discretion.
